Mr. Abshire had been a resident of Dayton for the past 52 years after moving from Louisiana. He grew up in a musical atmosphere, loved to dance, listen to the guitar and loved Cajun music. Mr. Abshire was not a selfish man and everyone he met loved him. He will be missed by all who knew him and will always be remembered as the hard working and honest man that he was.

Mr. Abshire was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifton Abshire; infant sister, Vivian Abshire; half-sister, Lillian; and half-brother, Austin.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ethel M. Abshire; sons, Craig Abshire (Cyndie), Terry Abshire (Debbie), Justin Abshire (Veronica); grandchildren, Christina Butcher, Casey Abshire, Jennifer Abshire, Jeremy Abshire, Nathan Abshire and Natalie Abshire; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Abshire, Dakota Day, Gracie Butcher, Grant Butcher and Griffin Butcher; sisters, Anna David, Pearlie Guidry, Norma Jean Sonnier (Jerry); brothers, Ophed Abshire (Nola) and Leroy Abshire (Mary); also many other family members and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
