Norman was born April 4, 1952 in Pontiac, the son of Merle and Lois Vollmer Abels. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alvin.
He is survived by his partner, Jeannie Abels; four children, Jason (Heather) Abels, Kenneth Abels, Jennifer (Jason) Poe and Benjamin (Wendy) Abels; siblings, Melvin Abels, John (Karen) Abels, Mary Ann (Rick) Johnson and LaJean (Jay) Legner and seven grandchildren.
Norman was a supervisor in the pressroom at R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Pontiac.
