WORLD WAR II

Son of William Henry and Sallie Boyd Rowell Rowell, twin of Margaret Raye. Ralph married (1) Macie Louise Thompson and, (2) Sarah Evelyn Bridges.

"After Ralph graduated he decided he wanted to move to Charlotte and start a career in the Grocery Business. So he came to live with us. We had a spare bedroom, and all of us loved Ralph. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and it was a pleasure to have him there. He got a job right away, and started from the ground up. He stayed with us until he met his future wife and married her. Her name was "Masie". After they had children, they would ask me to baby-sit for them, spend the night, and Ralph would take me to school the next morning. I enjoyed their boys so much. They were all good people to be around, who I loved very much. Ralph, later in life owned his own grocery store, and eventually built another larger store. They were near our house, so I still got to see them a lot, as I grew older." - Rita Rowell Frank

"The thing I remember most about Dad was his love for people. Everyone liked him as he was a people person. He was very kind and never met a stranger. He was a Godly man and served his Church well. He was a chef when he was in the US Army and I remember the huge cookies he used to make when I was a little child. I can remember visiting his kitchen on the Army base and getting those huge cookies. He certainly tried to make his family happy!" - Wayne Rowell
