James Randel Rawls, son of the late Floyd Lee Rawls and Betty Catherine Rodgers Rawls, was born on November 20, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois and departed this life on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 72 years.

Mr. Rawls was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. After leaving the Army, he worked as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439 and VFW Post #2659.

On February 14, 2002, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Loveless in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Mrs. Rawls survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his sister, Stephanie Alexander of Bryant, Arkansas; and by two grandchildren, Tyler Robert Cramer of Dexter and Emma Rosellen Sparkman of Dexter.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Clay.

Friends may visit with family at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, August 12, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. James Malloy officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
