Rev. Jewell Lynn Travis, age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday morning, January 31, 2020 at his home in Dayton. He was born July 12, 1930 in Dayton, TN, the son of the late Hubert and Alma (Brooks) Travis. Jewell was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha “Christine” (Nelms) Travis, his brothers, Howard Travis, Charles Travis and Harold Travis, and his sister, Barbara Caduto.

Jewell was a resident of Dayton for many years. He served his country as a sergeant with the US Army for six years, serving during the Korean War. He studied Bible at Lee College and went on to pastor churches in cities all throughout Tennessee, including Morristown, Pulaski, Donelson, Lawrenceburg, Chattanooga, Sparta, Knoxville and in Dayton. He was a member of the South Dayton Church of God. Jewell loved his family, his church and loved serving others and serving God.

Jewell is survived by his three children, Becky (Fred) Fuller of Candler, NC, Lynn (Suzanne) Travis of Dayton, and David (Crystal) Travis of Sevierville, TN; seven grandchildren, Brian (Kristen) Fuller of Jonesborough, Casey Fuller of Nashville, Courtney Travis of Sevierville, Chase Travis of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dalyn (Amanda) Travis, Katelyn Travis, and Kendall Travis, all of Dayton; four great-grandchildren, Erin Fuller, Kaeo Travis, Braxton Travis and Sage Travis; and sister, Billie Sterling of Georgia. The family would also like to thank and acknowledge his caregivers, Pat Stapleton and Karen Garrison.

Celebration of Life services with Military Honors for Jewell will be held Monday evening, February 3, 2020 at 7:00pm in the South Dayton Church of God with Pastors Lane Davis, Donnie Fine and Mitch Corder officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Rhea Memory Gardens on Tuesday morning at 11:00am followed by a white dove release.

Family will receive friends 5PM - 7PM
