Actress: Mary Scott began her movie career at Twentieth Century-Fox in 1940. Her first onscreen appearance was in the Oscar nominated film, Kings Row 1942. Philo Vance Returns in 1947. She understudied Lili Palmer in a Broadway production of Caesar and Cleopatra in 1949, where she met Sir Cedric Hardwicke, who was playing Caesar. After dating Sir Cedric Hardwicke she became pregnant with a son, Michael Hardwicke. Sir Cedric divorced his first wife and married Scott in 1950. They later divorced in 1961. She was known for The Prudential Family Playhouse 1950. She appeared in several segments on Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour Mr. Blanchard's Secret 1956, Crackpot 1957, The Diplomatic Corpse 1957, Don't Look Behind You 1962, How to Get Rid of Your Wife 1963, The Trap and Power of Attorney 1965. The Matinee Theater TV series 1955 to 1957, M. Squad 1959, Hazel 1963, Ripcord 1963, The Patty Duke Show 1964 and many various TV shows and movies. Mary Scott Hardwicke published a memoir entitled, "Nobody Ever Accused Me of Being a Lady" Minerva Press, in 2000. She died at a health facility in Riverside from vascular dementia and was cremated by a local mortuary in Riverside CA. Her ashes were buried.
