CRYSTAL FALLS - Alfred B. Caroen, age 99, passed away on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 5, 1919 in Ypsilanti, the son of the late John and Edith (Bastian) Caroen. He attended the Ypsilanti Schools, graduating with the Class of 1938. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Alfred married Audrey L. Demick on July 21, 1940 in Napoleon, Ohio. The couple celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary this past summer. They celebrated many years traveling and making great memories together.
He was employed as a master carpenter and contractor for many years. He was a member of the Carpenters Union. When Alfred wasn't busy working in the garage, he enjoyed spending time with all his family.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Audrey; sons, Jon (Laurie), Thomas (Carol), and Kevin (Debbie) Caroen; grandchildren, Kimberly (Paul) Knight, Julie Careon, Bonnie (Pete) Koenig, Abby (Philip) Matzke, Brian (Jean) Caroen, Carleen (Paul) Caroen, Scott Caroen, Emily (Jeremy) Allen, Natalie Blake, Wendy (Rich) LaRocca; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ada Coe, Irma Eppel, Stanley Caroen, Barbara Hodges, Marcie Rice, Jack Caroen; sister-in-law, Donna Yeager; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon; son, Alfred Caroen Jr.; granddaughter, Michelle; great-granddaughter, Katie Mae; brother, Harold; and sisters, Ellen and Virginia.
Private family services will be held.
Interment will be in Hematite Township Cemetery in Amasa.
Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
