The Emporia Gazette - Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas - August 21, 1947:
"THE MACY FUNERAL (Special to the Gazette). Compton, Calif., Aug. 21 -- Funeral services for Leven E. Macy, who died of heart disease August 4, were held August 7 at Neels Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Angeles Abby Mausoleum here. Mr. Macy was born August 1, 1871, at Lynnville, Iowa. He went to Kansas when he was 22 years old, and married Alice Lewis, of Emporia, on January 1, 1895. They lived on a farm near Americus until 1937, when they moved to Compton. He was a member of the Cottonwood Friends church, near Emporia. He is survived by his wife, of the home; three sons, John C. Macy, Compton; Ernest E. Macy, Omaha, Neb., and Homer L. Macy, Long Beach; one daughter, Mrs. Grace Chabot, Los Angeles; two brothers, James H. Macy, of Emporia, and S. Arthur Macy, of Seattle Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Lena Hardcastle, San Jose, and six grandchildren."

The Chase County Leader - Cottonwood Falls, Chase County, Kansas - October 2, 1906:
L. E. and family of East Buckeye expect to leave in three or four weeks for California where they will make their permanent home. Mr. Macy has rented his farm and will have a public sale on Oct. 10th.

PUBLIC SALE -- I will sell at Public Auction on my place 6-1/2 miles north and 1 mile east of Saffordville, Wednesday, Oct. 10th, beginning at 10 o'clock a.m.:
55 head of steers, 15 steer calves.
4 good milch (sic) cows.
1 registered shorthorn cow.
1 registered shorthorn bull.
1 A-1 shorthorn bull, 9 months old.
6 head of horses, 3 head of shoats.
4 sows with pigs.
2 sows to farrow soon.
10 or 12 dozen chickens.
7 Holland turkeys, 10 Pekin ducks.
All farm implements and household goods.
Free lunch at noon.
