Born in Kingston May 3, 1912, he was the son of the late Assid and Rose Soman Abdoo. He graduated from St. Mary's School and Poughkeepsie High School. He was a resident of Poughkeepsie for 45 years, coming from Bayonne, N.J. He married the former Rose Adad, who was a native of the Philippine Islands.
Past president and member of the Exchange Club of Poughkeepsie, he also was the former vice president of the Syrian-American Federation of the Eastern States. He was a former member of the City Traffic Commission. A communicant of St. Mary's Church, he was a World War II veteran, serving in the European and Pacific theaters.
Mr. Abdoo is survived by his wife; a son, George, a student at Dutchess Community College; four brothers, Joseph and John, both of Poughkeepsie; Frederick, Oradell, N.J.; and Albert, River Edge, N.J.; five sisters, Miss Mary Abdoo, Miss Freda Abdoo, Mrs. Carl (Jean) Hoffmann, Miss Hannah Abdoo, all of Poughkeepsie, and Mrs. Frank (Gemile) Marrone, Highland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. from 11 N. Clinton St. and at St. Mary's Church at 10:30 a.m., where a Solemn High Mass of Requiem will be offered. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home, 11 N. Clinton St., tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock and tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 o'clock. Members of the Exchange Clubs of Poughkeepsie will conduct services tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. Members of the Lebanon-American Club and Lebanon-American Daughters will recite the Rosary tomorrow night at 8:30 o'clock.
