Lura Mae Pelphrey, 90, of Oil Springs, died Monday, Jan. 5, at J. J. Jordan Geriatric Center, Louisa. Born June 18, 1913, in Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Mary Webb Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Pelphrey. Survivors include four sons, Bob Pelphrey and John G. Pelphrey, both of Stambaugh, Jack Pelphrey of Flat Gap, and Kenny Pelphrey of Oil Springs; two daughters, June Stapleton of Oil Springs, and Edna Grace Caudill of Stambaugh; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today, Friday, Jan. 9, at Phelps and Son Funeral Home, Paintsville, with Mitchell Spradlin, Sammy Reed and John Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery, Oil Springs, under direction of Phelps and Son Funeral Home.
