On Sunday, December 15h, 2019, our most loved, Danny Lee “Dee” Acord passed away unexpectedly, his strong will, faith and determination warranted a miracle in beating his recently diagnosed cancer. He was only 62 years of age.

One of four children, “Dee” as he was affectionately known was born on June 13th, 1957, in Beckley. He is the beloved son of French “Bud” and Norma Jean Daniel Acord of Fairdale. His brother, Lonnie and sister, Lisa have preceded him in death. He is the fond brother of Wayne Acord, his only living sibling.

A lifelong resident of Fairdale, Danny was a 1975 Graduate of Trap Hill High School. A coal miner all his life, Danny had 41 years in the mining industry. He was a 16 year member of Eastern Associate Mine Rescue Team and had ten years as a member of MHST Mine Rescue.

Danny loved coaching youth sports and spent 19 years coaching Little League in our community. He walked on water according to his kids. An avid outdoorsman, he spent his retirement years growing gardens, playing poker and farming with his Dad and friends, raising cattle, fishing, hunting, especially squirrel hunting with his faithful hunting companion, a Corgi and Jack Russel mix named Wego.

We would be remiss to not mention his favorite Cincinnati Reds and Mountaineers that he loved to watch play.

A devoted and loving family man, in addition to his parents and brother, he leaves his heartbroken family, loving wife, Kelly Boggess Acord; he was the proud father of Danny Lee Acord and wife, Bonnie Acord and their children, Connor , Cooper and Baylee; Norma Jean Acord – Combs and her husband, Eric Combs; Zac Acord and his wife, Adrienne Acord and his son, Easton. Danny loved spending time with those grandkids ! There is also a large extended family and many friends. In addition to his siblings, Danny was preceded in death by his mother and father- in- Law, Freda and Lewis Boggess as well as a very special family member, Cindy Denny on December, 7th.

Danny would want his home going to be a celebration. This service will be Friday, December 20th at 1:00 pm in the Breckenridge Baptist Church at Bolt. The family will be receiving friends at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest among his mother’s people at the Daniel Family Cemetery at Saxon.

At this time the family would like to thank his friends and family for their many prayers as Dee battled a difficult diagnosis. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the ARH Oncology center, Dr. Kodali and Dr. Bijjula and his wonderful infusion nurses who took great care of him who he loved and adored.

Our dear Dee will be remembered as an outstanding family man, friend, and coach. He touched the lives of all who knew him in such a positive way. And the words, “Sleep In Heavenly Peace” will have such a different meaning this Christmas….God speed
