She was admitted to the hospital in July of 2006 and, after successfully surviving open heart surgery the following month, her medical condition began to complicate and to worsen. Her husband and children were always by her side throughout her ordeal, and they made a deliberate, selfless effort to bring Norma back to her home so that she could peacefully enter death in the place she loved best.
Born March 13, 1939 in Bronx, NY to the late Dominick and the late Antoinette Cavello Costantini, Norma attended NYC schools and graduated Evander Childs High School in the Bronx. In 1960, she married her loving husband, Bill Lore, at Immaculate Conception Church, Bronx, NY. They settled in New Rochelle after their marriage. Primarily a homemaker, Norma worked for a short while as a monitor at Jefferson School in New Rochelle.
She will always be remembered as a kind and gentle person who never had a bad word for anyone. Her son, Billy, put it succinctly by saying,"Mommy never had a mean bone in her body."
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill. She was the cherished mother of Billy (and Liz) and Mark (and Catarina) and the beloved sister of Vera Mazzuca, Nettie (and Tom) McNamara, Vivian (and Richie) Vetrano and Guido Zannone.
A Funeral Mass will be offered 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 15 Shea Place, New Rochelle, NY. Interment will follow in Beechwoods Cemetery. The family will receive visitors and condolences on Sunday and Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at F. RUGGIERO & SONS, Inc., 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY.
