On Saturday Mar 2, 2002, in San Luis Obispo CA, Lee Harbor Preston 20, was hit by a car and died at the scene.
Born on Feb 5, 1982 in Novato, CA, Lee was a sophomore at Cal Poly State University majoring in agricultural business.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Lee's life on Sunday, Mar 10 at 2 p.m. at Valley Memorial Park Chapel, 650 Bugeia Lane, Novato, with a reception to follow at the neighboring Novato Horseman's Clubhouse.
Lee graduated from Novato High School in June of 2000. He was on the award winning Academic Decathlon Team for two years, member of the wrestling team, and elected junior class president. At Cal Poly Lee maintained a 3.8 grade point average and was a noted scholar performing in the top 1% of all students enrolled at Cal Poly.
Lee was an avid and accomplished sailor. This past Christmas his immediate family enjoyed a very special vacation together in the British virgin Islands sailing from harbor to harbor. Lee had recently been accepted as a new member of the St. Francis Yacht Club and earlier obtained his skippers license for bare boat chartering. He was also an accomplished horseman. Up until high school graduation, lee spent summers working closely with his father at the family ranch near Jackson Hole.
Lee Preston, brought a uniqueness of spirit, joy of life and passion for education and adventure rarely glimpsed in these difficult times. He was the consummate optimist, humorist and above all devoted friend and family member.
Lee leave behind in Novato his parents, Bonnie and Roger, sister Lauren, a senior at Novato High School, and maternal grandparents, Christie and Bud Lowrie.
In lieu of flowers family prefers donatioons be made to Lee's memory on behalf of his beloved aunt, Carla Amundson, who is fighting bone marrow cancer, c/o 1612 Waterrough, Sebastapol, CA 95472.
