Born on Nov. 19, 1945 in Chicago, he was a son of John A. and Florence (Finnegan) LaBelle. He was educated in the schools in Hammond, Ind. On Jan. 26, 1965 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two tours (so his brothers would not) of duty in Vietnam with his Seabees Unit and was honorably discharged on Jan. 28, 1969.
Jack was an avid local short track stock car race fan and served as a member of the crew for Eddie Hoffman Jr's. race team at the Grundy County Speedway. He also helped start and coached Little League in Hammond. He was a fan of all sports.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Lawrence "Lon" S. Taylor, and step-father, Paul V. Reidy
