Mr. Floyd C. "Bill" Abner, 75, of Girdler, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 7, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Floyd and Maudie Jackson Abner born on September 4, 1944 in Clay County.

Bill was a former farmer and logger and a devoted member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, playing the guitar, singing, woodworking and working on just about anything.

On May 30, 1964, he united in marriage with Georgia Gambrel and to this union five children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Georgia Abner of Girdler; five children, Joyce Croley and husband, Asher, of Barbourville, Randy Abner and wife, Nettie, of London, Patricia Davis of Corbin, Jeffery Abner and wife, Teresa, of Woollum and Ronnie Abner and wife, Amy, of Richmond; four sisters, Marie Thomas and husband, Jim, of Somerset, Lucy Cooper and Delora Mae Wilson and husband, Walter, all of Versailles and Sue Vaughn and husband, Roy, of Barbourville; 16 grandchildren, Aaron Ledford and wife, Alice, Tara Dizney and husband, Rod, Lisa Williamson and husband, Brian, Falisha Abner and Matthew Teague, Shawn Abner, Lavern Taylor and husband, Matthew, Oakley Spurlock, Millard Spurlock and wife, Melissa, Tyler Vaughn, Tiffany Rapier and husband, Eric, D. J. Sprinkles, Dylan and Devon Abner and Dalton, Brandon and Emily Abner; 20 great grandchildren, Luke, Journee, Titan, Oliver, Hannah, Byson, Brian Jr., Alyssa, Reagan, Haylee, Hayzlee, Jason, James Daniel, Madilyn, Gavin, Trenton, Braxton, Mia Kay, Abigail and Ariah; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private family funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, May 9 with Rev. Jerry Vaughn and Rev. Bart Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Dylan Abner, Devon Abner, Aaron Ledford, Shawn Abner, Millard Spurlock, Johnny Ray Abner, David Abner, D. J. Sprinkles, Rod Dizney and Steve Grace.

A drive-thru visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday between 4:00 and 4:30 P.M. For your safety, we ask that you remain in your vehicle.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
