Fredrick Gray of Hyannis passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
Fred is survived by his estranged daughter, Faith; two sisters, Dorothy Best of Fairhaven and Liz Tarbell of New York; his nephew, Wynsor Liberty of West Yarmouth; and four generations of nieces and nephews spread across the country. He is predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Charles Gray, and three sisters, A. Marie Liberty, Christine Gray, and Hattie Platani.
Born to Edward and Helen (Chase) Gray on September 15, 1925, Fred was a native Cape Codder who was a non-graduating member of the Yarmouth High School in 1943 as he enlisted in the United States Army before his graduation date. Fred worked at Colonial Acres Cottages in West Yarmouth in the 1950s and '60s before a lengthy career with the Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works.
Burial will be private.
