Rip was born in Hayesville, Macon County Tennessee, December 10. 1910. He was the son of Harlan Law and Mae Cornwell, he was one of three children. Rip married Elizabeth Hobdy December 16, 1934 in Franklin, Kentucky and they were the parents of two children, Bobby Cornwell and Linda Ann. Rip was one of the founders of the Franklin Bank and Trust Company in Franklin, KY. He died in Nashville, Davidson County TN September 30, 1965.
