Nancy R. Lazear, 98, of Ashland, died Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland.
She was born April 24, 1922, a daughter of the late Henry F. and Barbour Roberts of Russell, Ky.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lazear, who passed away in April 1974; a step-son, William L. (Bill) Lazear Sr.; a grandson, William L. (Will) Lazear, Jr.;, a sister, Sally Taylor; and two brothers, Helm and Jim Roberts.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church since April 1960, serving on their session and a primary Sunday school teacher for over 25 years. She graduated from ACC college and worked for Community Trust Bank for 12 years as a mortgage server. Nancy enjoyed her friends through The Three Arts Club and The Mother Smucker's Club for many years. She served in Kings Daughters Auxiliary in the gift shop for 14 years every Monday afternoon.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Linda Lazear (David) Jones and her children Andrew (Donna) Jones of Ashland, Ann Jones (Kathy) of Lexington, Laura (Rob) Herfel of Fort Thomas, Ky., and Bill's children, Paul Lazear of Ashland, Joy, Joanna, and Sybil all of Lexington; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Henry F. Roberts of Stone Mountain, Ga.
Nancy loved her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her, she was a wonderful cook and her Christmas cookies were enjoyed by many.
Due to COVID-19, a private graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens by Dr. William Pollack. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to First Presbyterian Church in Ashland in Nancy's name.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland, Ky.
