Kevin Joseph Hugen formerly of Des Moines, passed away unexpectedly June 26, at his home in Virginia Beach, VA. He was 58 years old.

Kevin was born in Des Moines and grew up on the southside where he attended Lincoln High School. He was employed by Atwood Construction in Collins, IA for several years before moving to Virginia Beach, VA. He was a great craftsman and took pride in his work. Kevin never knew a stranger engaging everyone with his witty sense of humor. That friendliness propelled him to the top in sales at Schwans Home Delivery based in Virginia where he worked for almost a decade. At the time of his death, Kevin was employed with A and W Construction, a job he thoroughly enjoyed and took great pride in.

Kevin leaves behind his two children, Heather (Shawn) McAnulty of Reading, PA and Joe (Kevin Joseph, JR) of Des Moines. He is also survided by his mother, Shirley Hugen (Robert Silva) of Jefferson City, MO, his grandchildren, Christian and Mia McAnulty, two sisters, Kathy Rush (Trevis) of Jefferson City, MO, Terry Norman (Garry) of Chesapeake, VA., a brother, Brian (Florence) Hugen of Virginia Beach, VA. and a host of nieces and nephews that all had a special bond with him.

Preceding Kevin in death is his father, Kenneth C Hugen and his granddaughter, Jenna McAnulty.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Kevin's life will be held on July 10, 2013 at 308 Kent St in Jefferson City, MO. He will be laid to rest in Reading, PA next to his granddaughter, Jenna.
