Linda Dare (Hurt) Miller, age 71, of Lancaster, passed away, Saturday, October 25, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Linda was born July 18, 1949 in Richmond, KY to the late Augustus “Gustie” and Bernice Combs Hurt. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, June Carrier, Eugene Fraley, Gladys Stamper, Mary Stout, and Larry Hurt.
She is survived by her husband of almost 25 years, Dan Miller; her loving daughter, Vicky Adams Castle and son-law Sammy; her two grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Samuel Derek and Victoria Brooke Castle; one brother, Gustie Hurt Jr. and a host of extended family and friends.
Linda was a pharmacy tech at Walgreens in Nicholasville at the time of her death. After high school, she continued her education by taking business classes which opened many career opportunities for her. In her younger years, Linda worked in banking and finance and as a production planner at the now Enersys. She had a very strong work ethic and continued that work ethic until the very end.
Linda loved being with her family, especially her two grandchildren. She could always be found in the stands supporting them in the many sports they played. Linda was a very selfless person and always put others before herself. On a couple of occasions, she served as coordinator for benefits such as St. Jude’s. Linda had a strong faith and was a Christ follower. Over the course of her lifetime, she enjoyed reading novels, solving crossword puzzles, working jigsaw puzzles, bowling, watching the Cincinnati Reds and UK Basketball. Her collectibles included Betty Boop memorabilia and many Native American Indian items.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 12 pm to 3 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 3 pm, the same day at Lakes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Madison Memorial Gardens in Richmond, KY
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Derek Castle and Brooke Castle, and nephews Jared Montgomery, Randy Stout, Mike Stout, and Allen Stout. Honorary bearers will be her stepdaughters, Danielle Miller and Denise Christopher.
