He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas T. Tynan, pioneer settlers in this area who came here in 1882. Mr. Tynan was active in community affairs. A veteran of the First World War, he was a member and trustee and past commander of the Sheridan American Legion Post, a past Legion district commander, past Wyoming department commander and National Region committeeman from Wyoming.

He was a member of a number of Masonic orders and a past potentate of Kalif Shrine Temple, the Elks Lodge, American Legion Drum Crops and Sheridan Musicians Union, of which he was president for 16 years. He was a member of the board of directors of the Sheridan-Wyo. Rodeo Assn. for 23 years and for many years was treasurer and director of night shows for that organization.

Other of his activities included service as Sheridan County War Bond chairman and membership on the State Civil Defense Board.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Tynan; a son, Thomas; a daughter, Marcia, and three grandchildren, all of Sheridan.
