Charles Russell Johnson, 84, of Verona, Mo., passed away Friday morning, December 4, 2020, while at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

Charles was born September 23, 1936, in Verona, oldest son of the late Wilbert Johnson and Gladys (Russell) Johnson. He graduated from Verona High School with the Class of 1954 and enlisted in the United States Army in December of that same year. He served in the Artillery Unit in Korea from December of 1955 to December of 1956 and was honorably discharged upon his return.

Charles was a member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church, where he served on various boards through the years.

Charles worked in construction for many years and built several of his family’s homes. He also worked for the Gas Service Company, now Spire, and retired in May of 1992 after twenty-five years. Charles was a life-long farmer and loved his Black Angus cattle.

He was united in marriage on February 21, 1958, to Patricia Boucher, of Monett, and she survives. Additional survivors include: two daughters, Leslye Milton and Jaysa Isbell and husband Lance, all of Monett; daughter-in-law, Kathy Johnson, of Springfield; seven grandsons, Leo A. Falcam III of Denver, Colo., Reece Johnson and wife Anna of Bentonville, Ark., Jarrett Johnson and Trey Johnson of Springfield, Brit Isbell of Kansas City, Mo., Bryce Isbell and wife Haley of Republic and Marcus Cade Isbell of Columbia; and two great-granddaughters, Anastasia Falcam and Camilla Rose Johnson. He is also survived by one brother, Gary Johnson of Granby; one sister, Ruby Dahlman of Billings and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Curtis Johnson; and two sisters, Janie Walles and Deborah Jones.

Friends may pay their respects from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Buchanan Funeral Home. Private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations have been suggested to the Waldensian Presbyterian Church or the Waldensian Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
