In 1928, Eliza graduated from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She was a public school teacher and became a Vocational Reg. Dir. for Virginia.

On 18 June 1932, she was married to Charles Wirt Trainham, Jr. (called by his middle name) at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Newport News, Virginia by Dr. Goodwin of Bruton Parish Church in the heart of historic Colonial Williamsburg. She & Wirt lived in Marshall, Virginia.

Though she and Wirt did not have children, she was an extremely special aunt to O. J. "Jerry" Brittingham III, as well as all of his siblings.
