David was born in Groton on June 15, 1942, the son of the late Walter I. and Constance A. (Jensen) Blodgett, David was raised in Groton and was educated in the Groton school system and went on to attend High School at the Lowell Trade School learning the Electrical trade. He worked for many years for the May & Halley company. David was also a volunteer firefighter, and one of Grotton's first minutemen.
David leaves behind his five children; David W. Blodgett Jr. and his wife Erin, Paul Blodgett, Heidi Clasby and her husband Kevin, Sarah Hall and her husband Duane, and Holly Blodgett; David also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, David Blodgett III, Hailey Blodgett, Kylie Blodgett, Lilly Blodgett, Parker Blodgett, Shea Clasby, Zoe Clasby, Aidan Hall, Liana Hall, Riley Buckley, and Joshua Buckley.
David also leaves his former wife Elaina (Lanni) Blodgett; along with two sisters Joyce Bohenko, and Patricia Vincent, and also many nieces nephews and cousins.
