A private family service for Elsie Josephine Hindman, 84, will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Farmington Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Elsie Josephine Hindman ran into the arms of her Savior on Friday, January 22, 2021. She was known to her family and friends as “Jo,” and loved dearly by each one.

Born on April 5, 1936, to Larry and Ruby (Borden) Essary in Corinth, MS, she was the fourth of seven children. She was a 1954 graduate of Corinth High School and worked for many years as a bookkeeper at ML Sandy Lumber Sales and Moore and Gray of Corinth.

On August 30, 1969, she married the love of her life. Over the next several years, they welcomed a daughter, Amy, and a son, Jason, to their family.

Jo’s deep and abiding faith was a bedrock of the family. She was a longtime member of Lakeview and Farmington Baptist Churches in Corinth and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Her love for Christ was evident in every day she lived.

Second only to her Savior was her love for family. Before she married, she was a much beloved aunt who was known for doting on her nieces and nephews. When the time came she was, of course, also a wonderful and loving mother. But anyone who knew her would say that she saved the best spoiling for her grandchildren, who knew that nobody loved them like their Mamaw did.

Jo is survived by her loving husband of over 51 years, Wayne Hindman, and her children Amy (Kevin) Hindman Burchfield and Dr. Jason (Nicole) Hindman; Grandchildren Rylee, Kenzie Claire, and Aubree Burchfield, and Jacob, Josie Kate, Henry, and Charlotte Hindman; her sister, Judy (Ray) Hughes and brother James (Norma) Essary, her brother-in-law James Hardin and sister-in-law Pat Essary, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by sisters Joan (Odie) Bullard and Cosette Hardin, and her brothers Bobby (Inez) Essary and Martin Essary.
