George Eley, aged 76 of 724 Diamond avenue, died Saturday afternoon at 12:20 o'clock in Epworth hospital after a two year's illness. He was born in Wakarusa, Ind., Nov. 28, 1859, and had resided here 22 years, moving to South Bend from Marshall county. In 1880 he married Sarah Freese in Plymouth. She died in 1928. Mr. Eley was a retired railroad employee. Surviving are the following children; Mrs. Edward Wittner, Mrs. Grover Kimble, Calvin, Vernon, and John Eley, all of South Bend; Mrs. Clifton Hall, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Mrs. Fred Shuppert, Lakeville, this county, and Joseph Eley, Plattsmouth, Nev.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Boyer, Knox, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Friends may view the body in the home of Mrs. Kimble, rural route No. 6, South Bend. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 pm daylight savings time. Burial will be in Highland cemetery.
