Anna Catharine Marx (nee Kries) Steffen Kessler. Is the daughter of Peter Kries and Catherine Marx. Her parents grow up during many turmoil's in 'Germany', at the time Luxembourg, and later Prussia. Anna's mother died when Anna was about 3 years old.
Anna married her first husband Nicholas Muehr Steffen on March 23, 1840 in Prussia. They had 9 known children together (Wilhelm, Elizabeth, Anna Margaret, Nicolaus, Cathrine (nee Steffen) Simon, Maria Elizabeth, Anna Catharine , Gerhard, and Susanna). Anna, Nicholas, and the children immigrated from Prussia to the United States circa 1847. They arrived in Wisconsin around Sept of 1847. Nicholas died shortly after arriving in America, November 7, 1847. Anna married Kaspar Kessler a new immigrant to Wisconsin, same as her between 1847-1850. They had four known children together (Frank, Elizabeth, John, and Barbara (nee Kessler) Simon.
Little is known about Anna after this point.
