Steve spent 23 years working in home furnishings at Dayton's, Hudson's and Marshall Field's and enjoyed his time and the connections he made as a buyer. After a career change, he became the primary caregiver for daughter Guiny and with that limitless love worked diligently to keep her safe and happy. Steve was treasured and appreciated by his extended family and many close friends. He was always there to help. His thoughtfulness, warm smile and "It'll be fine" approach, supported and comforted many throughout the years. His laughter could fill a room. He enjoyed bicycling, gardening, and was an active contributor to many online groups. Steve's love of music was expressed through his lifelong commitment to church music. As a choir member, his voice added value to many tenor sections. He played the French horn and chaired the renovation committee to repair and upgrade of a historic organ.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, David J. Grobe. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; daughter, Guinevere; mother, Edah and sister Sherry. A private memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. A video of the service will be available at http://www.goodshepherdmpls.org. Interment will be held at a later date at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights, IL. Memorials preferred to the Oscar Mike Foundation or the music program at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
