Robert (Bob) Lawton Akin

Capt. Robert Akin, age 68 of Roswell, died October 12, 2005 at Emory University Hospital. Capt. Akin was born in Geneva, Georgia.


He began his career with Piedmont Airlines in 1967 on the B-727. During his career, he flew the M-404, F-227, YS-11, B-737 and B-767 and instructed on the YS-11 and B-767. After retirement, Cpt. Akin worked with Delta as a contract instructor on the 767 until retirement in July of this year.


Surviving are his wife, Babs; brother, Herman; several nieces and nephew.


Bob will be remembered as a dedicated professional and airman, but most of all being a good friend.


Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 noon until the hour of service at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, Roswell/Alpharetta, 770-645-1414.
