Wesley Baker (Michaels) Mikles. Since the Find A Grave Info memorial page spells his name Mikles, I can only suppose that is what is on his headstone--or is it? I wish there were a photo of his headstone, if there is one that is legible, so we could determine what spelling was used at end of life.

On all records his father's name shown as Jacob Michael--no other spellings. Wesley's mother was Barbara Rust.
Wesley's first wife was Margaret Matilda Gaddis--not Gaddes. Margaret died ca 1861--not 1851--for she is on 1860 Census with Wesley and their children. She died in Rawlingsville, DeKalb Co., AL.

Wesley was in fact on the 1870 Census, separated from his 2nd wife Evaline Jackson, with several of his and Margaret's children--Charity Emaline, Jacob Nathaniel, Sarah, Martha Ellen and Caldonia Tennessee Michaels.

All of his children used the Michaels in their lifetime with the exception of son John Houston who went to the Mikles spelling as shown on his Civil War records.
Wesley and Margaret had a total of 10 children:

Marion Lafayette Alexander Michaels 1840-1862 died in Civil War
John Houston (Michaels) Mikles 1842-1863 died in Civil War
Margaretta Elizabeth Michaels 1844-1920
Mary Jane Michaels 1845-1892
Charity Emaline Beal Michaels 1848-1889
Jacob Nathaniel Michaels 1851-1935
Josiah Archibald Michaels 1852-1898
Sarah A. Michaels 1854-
Martha Ellen Michaels 1857-1941
Caldonia Tennessee Michaels 1860--

After Margaret died, Wesley married Evaline Jackson 14 Jan 1869 in Jackson Co., AL. Evaline and Wesley were separated before the 1870 Census. She is living in Grant, Johnson Co., AR at home of Steal Davis. She is using the spelling Mikles. Steal Davis' wife was most probably Evaline's sister. Wesley is living in Clark Township, Johnson Co., AL.
