Johnie Isabelle Charles, 82, of Nippa, died Thursday, Nov. 27, at Paul B. Hall Medical Center, Paintsville. Born Feb. 17, 1926, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late John Jackson and Nancy Elizabeth Riddles Jarrells. She was a member of Collista Freewill Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Charles, in 1988. Survivors include five daughters, Wanda Rowland of Somerset, Texas, Mildred Gay Damron of Garrett, Revil Kitts of Columbus, Ohio, Georgia Burns and Virginia Sue Charles, both of Nippa; a step-daughter, Nora Louells Amburgey of Van Lear; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 30, at Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Toby Johnson, Jerry Brickley, and Sam Burke officiating. Burial was in Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, under direction of Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville. Big Sandy News Wednesday Dec.03 2008
