ROGER "ROD" BLACKBURN
Roger "Rod" Blackburn, age seventy-four, of Meta, KY passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021. He was born October 18, 1946, the son of the late Burnis and Goldie Ratliff Blackburn.
He is survived by his two sons, Clinton (Angela Kaye) and Tim (Melissa) Blackburn; three brother, Kelly, Vernon, and Archie; four sister, Jewel, Kathy, Jan, and Cherri; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rod was a retired coal miner and an avid fisherman. He was the smile that everyone needed: always joking and entertaining. When he wasn't working, you could find him surrounded by loved ones. All of whom thought there was no one else like Rod. He was loving, giving, and caring. He taught us all to love with everything inside of us, not to take things too seriously, and to have fun with one another while we have the chance.
Everyone who knew Rod has a story to tell. A story that they will never forget: whether it was fishing trips, practical jokes, funny work stories, or just sitting in the swing on the front porch. If you had the opportunity to meet him, I am sure he made an impact on your life. Rod will be missed by all of us, but his legacy will live on. He will be with us in the smile his memory bring to our faces and the warmth in our hearts as we reminisce.
The world has dulled and lost a spark of life, but Heaven looks a little brighter. Our hope and desire is to all be together again one day.
