A funeral service celebrating the life of Jerad R. Angle, 40 of Thornville will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Kirkersville Cemetery.

Mr. Angle died unexpectedly Sunday, June 13, 2021 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1981 in Newark to Steven and Gynette (Browning) Angle who survive.

A graduate of Lakewood High School, Jerad had worked in law enforcement for 18 years, first with the Johnstown Police Department followed by the Newark Police Department. Jerad was said to be "the guy you wanted with you if things went sideways". He received several commendations and awards for his exemplary service. Jared loved his team. He retired from NPD in 2018. Since his retirement he enjoyed building custom motorcycles. Jerad was a loving husband, father and son. His family meant the world to him. He enjoyed taking an active role with his children in all their activities. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Jerad was a member of Hebron Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his parents, Steven and Gynette Angle; his loving wife, Melanie (Mummey) Angle; children, Jace Peugh, Xander Angle and Mya Angle; a step-brother, Tim Rarick; and a host of extended family and friends including his best friend, Jeremiah (Sam) Hanzey; friends, Brian Webster, Mike Snode and Blake Duncan.

Jerad was preceded in death by close friend, Shayne Stevens.
