I wish I knew more about my great-grandmother to provide a fitting memorial. She married William W. Golemon and had two children, William "Uncle Wille" Golemon and my grandmother, Delia Golemon Nichols. She was born and raised in what was called "The Hammock" community. She helped raise my father, Gethren Nichols, as his little brother was sickly and grandmother had her hands full taking care of him. She and my great-grandfather spoiled my father rotten. In later years she suffered from what was then called hardening of the arteries but what we now know as Dementia. This illness was sadly passed on to my father. My grandmother was forced to place great-grandmother in a home where she passed a few days later.

Someday I will get to meet her, and will quiz her on how she grew such beautiful flowers, as I grew up in her home (my father inherited the Golemon place) and was able to see the beautiful plants she had planted so many years before. I even have cuttings of the original azalieas that she planted at my home now.
