Curtis Brian Snider, 63, of Gulfport, Mississippi and Queen City, Missouri, died Monday, August 23, 2021, in Gulfport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Cecil and Lola Mae (Wheeler) Snider, and 2 brothers, Douglas and Joseph, in infancy.

Curtis was born September 26, 1957, in Kirksville, Missouri. He graduated in 1975 from Schuyler R-1 Schools in Lancaster, Missouri.

On June 26, 1976, he married Leonetta Sue (Talbert), who survives, as does their daughter, Kimberly Joy and her significant other, David Hamilton (Eimilie and Dustin)of Des Moines, Iowa. He is also survived by brothers Clayton (Cindy) of Greentop, Missouri and Carl (Latisha) of Queen City, Missouri, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Curtis started working at a young age on the family farm and the family oil business, then as an apprentice dragline operator at Missouri Mining in Putnam County. He also raised hogs for several years. In 1980 he started trucking, hauling farm machinery on a flatbed, then began hauling bananas out of Gulfport, Mississippi. This expanded into him starting his own trucking company that grew to 70+ trucks, and he acquired and expanded a transfer dock service. Curtis seldom took any time off from working, but when he did, he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends or being on the water on his jet skis.

Curtis was passionate about helping his family, friends, business associates and partners and employees he considered and treated more like family, in any way he could. He will be sorely missed by many who were recipients of his kindness and generosity.

A memorial service was held Tuesday in Gulfport. There will also be a memorial service held Sunday, September 5, at 1:00 p.m. , at Clay Snider's lake, 2 miles south of Queen City off Rt. Y. There will be a sign at Highway 63 and Rt. Y, and one where you turn in to the lake to park. People are urged to bring their lawn chairs, and to come early if at all possible so everyone can get parked. There will be portable toilets, bottled water, tents provided for shade, and golf carts for assistance from parking areas. Sonny Smyser of Schuyler County Church of Faith will conduct the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Military Warriors Support Foundation, either via their Facebook page or their website at militarywarriors.org, where they can donate online.
