Katherine Meyer was born in Des Moines, but a few years later moved to Toledo, Ohio. She grew up on Homewood Avenue and attended St. Agnes school, Whittier Elementary, and Roy C. Start High School. She graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in linguistics. She worked for what was then called the Lucas County Board of Mental Retardation, and Larc Lane School.

She was a member of Mensa, the high IQ society. She loved to read, and enjoyed computers and video games in later life. She loved true crime, political discourse, and jokes.

In 1968, while camping in Indiana, she met Thomas Frushour. They married in 1969 and had two children, Amy (1971) and Kevin (1974). They divorced in 1984 but remained friends until her death.

In 1985 at a Mensa convention she met Michael Wattam, whom she married in 1986. They moved to the Pittsburgh area where she lived for the rest of her life working as a freelance copy editor and writer. Her last last 30 years mostly in Bellevue PA, with her final few years in Delmont, PA.
