Edith Lee Gann, 91, of Austin, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2007. She was born on October 28, 1915 in Texas City, Texas to James and Eula Wheeless Hanna. Edith loved to sew. She was the proud recipient of a Volunteer Service Certificate presented by Governor Ann Richards and a Concerned Christian's Award from El Buen Samaritano Center. Edith was a longtime member of Manchaca Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Monroe Gann; parents; daughter-in-law, Varinia Gann; brothers, James Hanna and Glenn Hanna; and sister, Vina Erwin. Edith will be sadly missed by her loving son, Curtis Gann; granddaughter, Twala Carey and husband, Doug; sisters, Viola Mitchell and Verda Pierce; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 28, 2007 in the Family Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street in Houston. Private Family Interment will follow services at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
