John Hayne Herring was born January 17, 1937 in Wetumka, Oklahoma the son of Donald Jones and Pauline Louise (Reed) Herring. He completed this life on Thursday, September 30, 2020 at his home in Oklahoma City at the age of 84.

John was raised in Wetumka and Norman where he graduated from University High School (Norman, OK). He served his country in the U.S. Air Force being honorably discharged.

John married Barbara Gene Roper at the First Baptist Church in Raymondville, TX on April 14, 1962. They made their home in Kingsville, Texas until 1981 when they moved to Oklahoma City. John held a number of occupations during his life. He especially enjoyed being a heavy crane operator in Texas and a property manager in Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved son, Don Lee Herring on October 7, 1998; his wife of 45 years, Barbara on August 20, 2007; and his brother Donald Reed Herring on April 21, 2020.

He is survived by his son, Mark Hayne Herring and his wife Melinda; his daughter, Shelly Gene Osborne; his brother, David Lee Herring; his sister, Elizabeth Ann Warren and her husband Bruce Mann; his grandchildren, Johnny and his wife Estefania, Alex, Abigail and Sarah; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
