Funeral services for Vorhees Pearson, 74, a native and lifelong resident of Sweetwater county, were held Tuesday at St. John’s Episcopal church in Green River. Burial was in Green River’s Riverview cemetery.

Pallbearers were Albert Becksted, Kenneth Becksted, John Kopiac, Allen Palison, Forest Palison and Delbert Palison, all of Green River.

Honorary pallbearers were Cliff Anderson, Horace Byran, Russ Cameron, Jack Evers, Earl Gamble, Robert Hamilton, Charles Harvey, Joe Hickey, Charles Highley, Dave Logan, Louis Stoll, Fred Stoll, Robert Slaughter, Earl Stoll, Joseph Steinaker, Kenneth Stoll and Fred Welsh, all prominent Sweetwater county residents.

Mr. Pearson died Saturday April 4, in Sweetwater Memorial hospital.

He was born Jan. 7, 1885, on the old Billy Pearson ranch on Henry’s Fork. He was reared in the Burntfork area and in 1907 married Lillian Stoll, a daughter of a pioneer Sweetwater County couple. In 1926 they moved to Wamsutter and a year later moved into Green River.

For many years he was a Sweetwater county road and maintenance foreman. From 1941 to 1952 he was employed by Union Pacific railroad in Green River.

Survivors are his widow, one son, and three daughters, Francis Pearson, Mrs. Francis (Mary) Brooks, Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Zaversnik, all of Green River, and Mrs. S.L. (Stella) McNey of Anaheim, Calif.

The Pearsons were active in Democratic politics in the county over a period of years.
