In 1818, Peter Weaver bought two lots from Jacob Troyer. It would be in the vicinity of Hiland High School and Troyer's Market that the Amish of Ohio started. The area is known as "Weaver Ridge" or "Weaver Hill" for the Swiss-like landscape and for the Weaver family. In 1825, the property totaled 200 acres and was worth $420. Peter and his wife Magdalena raised eleven children, six of them born on the home farm. Peter died in 1836 and his land was divided u82474062 p among his sons.
