Iva Faye Bradford, 82, of Denton, KY went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. Iva was born August 10, 1939 in Coshocton, OH a daughter of the late James and Opal Baldridge McWhorter. Iva retired from the Carter County School System where she proudly worked at Hitchins, Willard, Star, East Middle, Olive Hill and Heritage. Iva attended the Hitchins Freewill Baptist Church. An enthusiastic quilter, she donated and helped present over 50 quilts to veterans through the Carter County Quilts of Valor. She was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Hitchins Homemakers, the Carter County Retired Teachers, and a past president of the Carter County Democratic Women's Club. In addition to her parents, Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne "Doc" Bradford in 2020, her first husband, Virgil Eugene Rogers, brother, James McWhorter and sisters, Phyllis Cochran, Wilma Jean Lucas and Deloris Tussey. Her survivors include: two daughters, Cynthia (Keith) Hill of Denton and Becky (Brian) Brown of Grayson; three grandchildren, Kelsey (Corey) Gee, Braden (Kristen Mayo) Brown and Peyton Brown; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Abel Gee; two brothers, John McWhorter and Mark McWhorter and three sisters, Ruth Hogsten, Donna Thompson and Charlotte Moore. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home with Keith Hill and Braden Brown, officiating. The interment will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. The visitation will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until the service at the Malone Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Quilts of Valor, 140 7th Street, Grayson, KY 41143 or Ashland Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave. Ashland, KY 41101.
