Politician. Hermes Juan Binner was an Argentine doctor and politician. He studied Medicine at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, eventually graduating in 1970 after his education was halted by the 1966 coup d'état. He belonged to the Socialist Party, being President of the party from May of 2012 to 2016. He was the 82nd governor of the province of Santa Fe from 2007 to 2011 and the first member of the Socialist Party to hold a position at this level in the Argentine history. In 2011 he was a candidate for president but did not receive the votes needed to win the election.
