Rex Lee Mitchell, 80, passed away on March 20th, 2022, at his residence in Carthage, MO. He was born on May 5th, 1941, in Carthage to Coy Mitchell and Mildred (Slater) Flippo. Rex was a lifelong resident of Carthage. He worked for Steadley's as a mechanic for several years till his retirement. Rex married Betty June Beam of Reeds in 1959 in Carthage and had seven children. They were happily married for 62 years. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers in his yard. Rex is survived by his spouse, Betty, of Carthage, his daughters, Patricia Griffith, Terry Myers, Sheila Fulkerson, Sarah Chapman and her husband, Jerry, all of Carthage, Kimberly Grizzle of Holdenville, OK., son, Gary Mitchell and his wife, Lori, of Carthage, his sister, Carolyn Barlow and her husband, Bobbie, of Carthage, 27 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Coy Mitchell, sister, Loretta Hendrix, son, Rex Mitchell Jr. and five grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Park Cemetery in Carthage, MO at 10:00 AM Friday, March 25, 2022.
