Australian Diplomat. He was the Australian Ambassador to China from 2000 until 2003. He also was the 12th Director-General of Security from March 30, 2009 until September 14, 2014, as well as the 10th Director-General of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service. He attended Hale School and the University of Western Australia. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in June 2005.
