Charles Louis Actis 7/14/1939 - 4/14/2022

Charles "Chuck" Actis peacefully passed away on April 14th in Colfax, Ca. Although his mobility was declining and he was in some pain, he was still getting out and about, enjoying life.
Born and raised in San Francisco he enlisted in the US Navy in 1959 and received his commission in 1963 after graduating from The University of Mississippi as a supply officer. He married his loving wife in 1962. He retired from the Navy in 1981 as a Lt. Commander and started his second career with Westinghouse/Northrup Grumman retiring around 1998. While working, he found the time to be a Boy and Girl Scout leader, baseball umpire and soccer referee.
Chuck's 25 year plus retirement was something we all can dream and aspire to. Moving from Tracy, Ca. to Colfax allowed he and his wife to be close to family and enjoy countless family get togethers. He also attended literally hundreds of his 2 granddaughters basketball, softball and soccer games. You could hear "Papa Chuck's" voice booming, COME ON to the referees from across the field as one of his girls was knocked down!
Chuck and Cathy loved to travel, especially to Kauai, Oahu and the Big Island, often with their children and grandchildren joining them, making beautiful memories. He really enjoyed his Navy ship reunions spending a few days a year sharing stories, imbibing and embellishing with his ex shipmates. To say he had a love for golf is an understatement. A talented player and clubmaker he had a great passion for the game. Unfortunately he stopped playing some years ago due to arthritis but still enjoyed watching the pros on TV.
Chuck is survived by his loving family, wife, son, daughter and husband, granddaughters.
God and family were of utmost importance in his life and he showed it every day with his love, humor and compassion.
There are givers and takers in life and some in between. Chuck was the ultimate giver, in so many ways. We will miss you Papa Chuck but will never forget our wonderful time together!
A mass and burial will take place on Monday 4-25 10am at St. Dominic Church in Colfax with a get together in the parish hall following, probably about noon.
