David "Dave" Lykins, age 93, of Rush, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.



Born September 17, 1928, in New Boston, Ohio, and raised at Blairs Mill, Kentucky, and was a son of the late Will Tom Lykins and Parthena Weddington Lykins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Lykins, Douglas Lykins, and Claude Lykins, and three sisters, Etta Mae Easterling, Maggie Collins, and Betty Sue Goodan.



Dave is survived by his wife of 70 years, Reva Lorene Caudill Lykins; two sons, Denver Lykins and wife Peggy of Olive Hill and Darrell Lykins and wife Angelia of Rush; two grandchildren, Brent Lykins and wife Katie of Simpsonville and Chad Lykins and wife Tiffany of Georgetown; one great grandchild, Avery Lykins; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors that he loved dearly, Gordon and Brenda Womack, Ron and Joann Harris, and Susie Savage.



Dave was a retired superintendent for Union Boiler Company and a 60-year member of Carpenters Local Union 472 in Ashland. He was a member of Laurel Gorge Enterprise Baptist Church and enjoyed attending other church services and revivals.



A lifelong farmer and outdoorsman, Dave also enjoyed his cattle and horses, fishing, and especially spending time with family. He enjoyed helping others and often said, "I am a friend to people that don't have any friends."



Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Clifford "Tippy" Price and Brother Steve Madden officiating. Burial will follow in East Carter Memory Gardens in Grayson.



Pallbearers: Chris Lykins, Mike Thomas, Zack Thomas, Harley Rayburn, Gordon Womack, Danny Lewis, Clavis Dickerson, and Leroy Stevens. Honorary pallbearers: Dudley Lykins, Stanley Wilson, Mike Templeman, Steve Tackett, Junior Ison, Wendell Logan, Danny Gilliam, Ron Harris, James Woods, Steve Mabry, Ernie Gilliam, Bill Wright, Rick Morris, Jack Thomas, and Doug Caudill.



Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2022, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Community Hospice, Inc., 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
