Frank Joseph Styduhar, 230 S. Crescent Drive, Hermitage, died at 12:07 a.m. Tuesday (4-4-06) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 84.

Mr. Styduhar was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Pittsburgh to Ladislav and Veronica Greguric Styduhar.

He moved to the area in his youth and graduated in 1940 from Hickory High School, Hermitage.

He retired after more than 40 years as a machinist in the Z-10 Building of the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

For many years, Mr. Styduhar played with the Vagabonds and other area musicians. He also taught piano and accordion at King's Music, Sharon, as well as in his home studio. He published a book of polkas and waltzes entitled "Slovenian Dance Party."

Mr. Styduhar was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Sharon and often enlightened their functions with his musical talents.

Frank was also a member of Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 126, Farrell; and was a former member of Local 27 of American Federation of Musicians, New Castle.

On Feb. 20, 1943, Frank married Mary Kush of Windber, Pa. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage before she passed away Nov. 26, 2004.

Frank will be sadly missed by: his three surviving daughters, Charlene Styduhar, Hermitage; Evelyn Perry, Girard, Ohio; and Nancy and her husband Tom Crompton, Bedford, N.H.; a son, Frank R. and his wife Connie Styduhar, Sharon; and five grandchildren, Valerie Thomas, Pittsburgh; Suzanne O'Brien, Brookfield; Marijo Perry, Girard; 2nd Lt. Matthew Crompton, Quantico, Va.; and Andrea Crompton, Bedford.

Besides his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Edward and Thomas Styduhar; and a grandson, Dr. Mark L. Perry.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Chapel Fund of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, 804 Idaho St.; or Shenango Valley Community Library, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., both Sharon 16146; American Cancer Society, 1965 Shenango Valley Freeway, Suite 1, Hermitage 16148; or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Friday (4-7-06) in St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, with the Rev. John R. Boeckman, pastor, as celebrant. A brief service will be held prior to the Mass in the funeral home.

Entombment: St. Rose Mausoleum, Hermitage.
