A partner with his famous uncle, Major George Washington Littlefield, Phelps White moved to the Roswell area to manage the Bosque Grande Ranch in 1881. He next became a full partner in the Littlefield Cattle Company which was formed in 1883. He married Lou Lee Tomlinson in June 1903. Lou's father, D.Y. Tomlinson was the contractor for several Roswell buildings, including the home built for his son-in-law and daughter which he completed in 1912. The lovely home, located at 200 North Lea Avenue has served since 1976 as the Historical Center for Southeast New Mexico.
