Patrick J. Mitchell Sr. Obituary

Casper-Services for Patrick J. Mitchell Sr.,64,will be conducted on Monday at 2 P.M. at the Bustard Funeral Home by the Rev. Frank Hoover of First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell died May 15,1997,at his home in Casper following a lengthy illness.

He was born Sept. 7, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Walter and Ethel(Baker)Mitchell.

He grew up and received his education in Des Moines Iowa and graduated from Dowling High School in 1950. After graduation, he was a member and worked full time for the Iowa National Guard for eight years.

December 31,1952, he married Darlene Lewis in Des Moines. After his duty with the National Guard, he went to work for Des Moines Water Works as a heavy equipment operator for 10 years.
He later managed numerous hog farms in northern Iowa.
In 1972 he returned to school, attending Southwestern Community College and graduated in 1976, second in his class and was on the Deans and Presidents list, along with being a member of the Iowa Honor Society.
After graduation from College, he and his wife moved to Douglas, Wy.,where he went to work for Chinook Construction as a mechanic, he sustained a major injury, which force his retirement. He moved to Phoenix,AZ. in 1985 for a short time and returned to Casper in 1993.

Survivors include his wife of Casper,two daughters, Janet Taylor and Shawna Southworh of Casper,four sons, Timothy Mitchell of Casper, Patrick Mitchell Jr. Phillip Mitchell and Thomas Mitchell all of Arizona; a sister Alberna Donovan of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nine grandsons and two granddaughters, one great grandson,two step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

The family would appreciate memorials to the Patrick J. Mitchell Memorial Fund.
