She met her husband Michael on a blind date and life changed from that moment. July 3, 1971, the two said "I Do". They created a marriage that lasted 52 amazing years. Whatever obstacles presented themselves during that time they faced as a team. They stayed together until the second she was called to receive her wings on April 1, 2023.
Sarah was a mother to two children. Michael Dean Westbrook II was born on September 19, 1976. He was too beautiful for this world but is dancing with her now in heaven. On April 15, 1980, her daughter Michelle was born. She put every ounce she could into being the best mom and role model a mother could be. She taught her compassion, independence, and grace. On August 5, 2006, Sarah gained a son-in-law, David. She always admired his work ethic and welcomed him into the family like one of her own. David and Michelle blessed the family with the oldest granddaughter, Elexie Ann, in 2009. Sarah took on the role of "Grammy" with so much joy in her heart. Everywhere you looked in her home or office there would be pictures showing Lexie off to anyone that would look. Little did Sarah know she would be blessed again in 2013 with her granddaughter Sarah Catherine. Sarah Cate and Grammy shared the love of accessories and shopping. They were a team to make sure everyone stayed in style.
If you were fortunate enough to meet Sarah and form a friendship it was guaranteed to be one you could never forget. She worked in the circuit court system in Harrison County for 17 years. There she met a group of ladies that would create memories that made the value of her life increase. They shared family vacations, support through the loss of loved ones, Grandkids, and even after retirement met for breakfast and lunch to stay in touch.
Sarah pursued a different path and moved to circuit court then to chancery court of Jackson County. She had an appreciation for the judges she worked under and once again formed friendships with colleagues that became important to her. After 35 years, the decision was made to retire to enjoy a slower pace of life. However, Sarah never slowed down. She jumped right into enjoying her granddaughters and family. In her free time, she enjoyed hosting holidays for the family. Sarah loved to take part in Mardi Gras, Birthdays, and New Years Day with friends that were like family. She looked forward to decorating for each occasion, especially Christmas. One of her top favorite yearly events was having her tree perfected each year with her friends.
Sarah was met by her mother Augustine, father Norman, sister Elwanda, brother Elexie and many loved ones at the gates of Heaven. There are so many individuals that miss her dearly. If you are one, take a little piece of a lesson she shared with you and put it forward. We can always find someone who could use kindness from a stranger, compliment on a pair of earrings, or advice on how to cook the perfect southern meal to make the day better and our hearts smile in remembrance.
